Otranto, guided walking tours with local guides.

Otranto (known as the City of Martyrs) our guide will visit the Norman Cathedral of the Annunziata (containing the remains of 800 martyrs who lost their lives during the massacre of 1480) in which is visible the beautiful mosaic floor of 1163 ( one of the oldest in Europe). The route continues with a visit to the Aragonese Castle, and later the Byzantine church of St. Peter's full of medieval frescoes. Finally a walk along the charming ramparts. Otranto was set the first great gothic novel of European literature, entitled "The Castle of Otranto" by Horace Walpole (eighteenth century).

You can discover the magic of an ancient village, situated on the Adriatic coast of Salento, where you can stroll through the narrow streets of the center, full of local craft shops and admire the crystal clear sea with a sandy bottom. The Martyrs d Otranto were sanctified May 12, 2013 and have been called "The 800 teachers of the faith".
